Part 1: When to Visit Dubai | Ultimate Dubai Travel Guide

Best Time to Travel

You can visit Dubai year-round, but the ideal period is from November to March due to the pleasant weather. For budget travelers, we recommend visiting during the “shoulder months” of late October, early March, or April. The weather is mildly hot and humid but bearable, and you’ll find great deals during these months.

Our Experience

We visited Dubai in the second week of November, which was perfect for enjoying the attractions. If you want to cover just the main points of interest, five days are enough. For those who want to include Abu Dhabi in their trip, we recommend at least ten days.

Part 2: Getting There | Ultimate Dubai Travel Guide

Flights

Round-trip flights from Mumbai to Dubai cost around 22K INR per person, with Indigo being the cheapest airline. Dubai has two airports: Dubai International Airport and Sharjah Airport. We suggest flying into Dubai International Airport for convenience.

Visa Process

The Dubai visa process is quick and simple for Indians. You need to apply for an e-visa unless you have a US, UK, or European resident visa. We recommend applying through a travel agent for convenience. Required documents include a scanned copy of your passport (valid for at least six months) and passport-size photos. The visa is usually processed within 48 hours.

Part 3: Currency and Communication | Ultimate Dubai Travel Guide

Currency

Dubai’s currency is the Dirham (AED). The current exchange rate is 1 AED = 22.68 INR. Carry some cash for emergencies, and use a good forex card with zero markup fees for most transactions. Always choose AED as the payment currency to avoid conversion fees.

Sim Cards and Internet

There are three main network providers: DU, Etisalat, and Virgin. We recommend buying sim cards at the airport. We used DU and Virgin with 21 GB of data for 7 days. Prices will be shared in the comments.

Part 4: Accommodation and Transport | Ultimate Dubai Travel Guide

Accommodation

Choosing a hotel in Dubai can be overwhelming. Here’s a breakdown:

  • Luxury: Downtown Dubai, JBR, Palm Jumeirah
  • Mid-range: Al Jadaf area
  • Budget: Bur Dubai, Old Dubai

For families, Airbnbs are more cost-effective. Couples can find good studio apartments on Airbnb.

Transport

Dubai has good metro connectivity, but it doesn’t cover all locations. For comprehensive sightseeing, consider booking a “Hop on Hop off” bus tour. You can also use the Kareem app for cabs, with a minimum fare of 8-12 AED.

Part 5: Shopping and Dining

Shopping

Dubai is known for affordable electronics, perfumes, ouds, dry fruits, and spices, especially in Old Dubai. Avoid buying clothes from malls as they are pricier than in India. Meena Bazaar in Bur Dubai is great for gold shopping. Don’t forget to keep receipts for tax refunds.

Dining

Use the Kareem app for food delivery. Dubai offers a variety of cuisines, and you’ll find plenty of restaurants and cafes, especially around Lamer Beach and Dubai Mall.

Part 6: Top Attractions

Burj Khalifa

There are two main ticket options: levels 124/125 or the more expensive levels 154/155. Book in advance to avoid long waits.

Skyview Observatory

Enjoy a great view of Burj Khalifa and Dubai Downtown. Adventure activities like edge walk and slides are also available.

Other Must-Visit Places

  • The View at Palm
  • Dubai Creek and Souks
  • Global Village
  • Dubai Frame
  • Lamer Beach
  • Dubai Mall

For adventure seekers, try sky diving, dune bashing, scuba diving, parasailing, hot air balloon rides, or a one-day trip to Abu Dhabi.
