My Most Scariest Travel Stories: Hello everyone! I’m Drew Binski, and I’m here from a lovely park in downtown Manila to share some of my scariest travel experiences with you. Last year, I made a video about my three scariest travel stories, and I had a lot of fun telling you those tales.

Since then, I’ve encountered even more terrifying situations on my journeys. Today, I want to share three more scary stories from my travels to Afghanistan, Yemen, and Libya. These stories are 100% based on my own experiences, so let’s jump right in.

Afghanistan: A Dangerous Drive | My Most Scariest Travel Stories

Afghanistan is one of my top 20 favorite countries. The beautiful mountains, snow-capped peaks, and friendly locals made my trip memorable. However, one incident stands out as particularly frightening.

While driving from Mazar-i-Sharif to Kabul, a large dog jumped in front of our car on a freeway. We hit the dog, and our car’s front bumper was severely damaged. My main concern was our safety, especially since we had to pass through multiple checkpoints. At one checkpoint, the authorities were suspicious and held us for about 45 minutes, suspecting we had hit a person. It was one of the scariest moments of my life, but we managed to get through after my friend called a contact in the police.

Yemen: A Border Miscommunication | My Most Scariest Travel Stories

My trip to Yemen began six months ago, with a fixer organizing my visa on arrival. After a smooth drive to the border, I was shocked to find that my guide wasn’t there to meet me as promised. Stranded without a working phone and unable to speak the local language, I was in a precarious situation.

The driver assured me my guide would meet me at the next town, but after a tense journey, he still wasn’t there. Another man, who turned out to be a friend of my guide, met me instead. I feared I was being kidnapped, but after a tense phone call with my guide, I realized the man was genuinely there to help. Despite the terrifying start, the rest of my trip in Yemen went smoothly, and I collected incredible stories from the experience.

Libya: A Visa Ordeal | My Most Scariest Travel Stories

Getting into Libya was an adventure in itself. The visa process was grueling, costing over $600, and required me to pose as an oil consultant. Dressed in formal attire and armed with a fabricated backstory, I entered the country with a Japanese fellow traveler.

Upon arrival, we were taken aside for additional questioning. The immigration officers were suspicious, especially given my travel history to countries like Afghanistan and Yemen. The situation escalated when we heard gunshots, which turned out to be fireworks. After a tense interrogation, the officers finally let us go after contacting our driver. The fear of being caught with my camera and the potential consequences made this one of the most nerve-wracking experiences of my travels.

Conclusion Of My Most Scariest Travel Stories

Traveling to every country in the world inevitably involves some scary moments. Despite these experiences, I hold no ill will toward Afghanistan, Yemen, or Libya. Each country offered unique and enriching experiences, and I look forward to visiting more countries as I continue my journey. Thank you for joining me on this adventure.
